Player Participation - Census Figures
Female participation in women's cricket has shown a steady increase over the past few years and with the national development initiatives in place, this should continue to grow.
National participation between 00/01 & 01/02 has increase by 5,771 (approx. 13 %)
Year National Participation 99/00 40,612 00/01 43,599 01/02 49,370 MILO HaveAGo is a development program for boys and girls aged 5 10 years. MILO HaveAGo is predominately run at a local cricket clubs, however, the program can be undertaken in schools outside of school hours. All equipment, program educational resources and promotional items are included as part of the program.

Cric Hit is a great new modified cricket program for girls aged between 10 - 13 years old.
Cric Hit is an 8 week program that runs for 1.5 hours, 1 afternoon a week and is fully supervised by a professional Cricket Australia employed Co-ordinator. It is run in a safe, friendly and fun environment and caters for all abilities and skill levels. It involves a range of activities that teach cricket skills and games.
You don’t need any special equipment just wear casual sports clothes and be prepared for loads of fun. During the Program you will receive a welcome pack including funky coloured backpack and Cricket Australia blitz cricket bat.CA's Junior Cricket Policy outlines policies and principles for junior cricket participation. The Junior Cricket Policy highlights girls participation, skill development, and safety, information for coaches, teachers, umpires and parents.
Girls can play in junior boys competitions if no other access to cricket is available. Girls can play in junior boys competitions two years below their chronological age, where ability dictates.

School Programs
Schools play a significant role in developing cricket. CA, through the MILO program assists State and Territory Development staff by providing schools with access to clinics and coaching resources, along with opportunities to enter into cricket competitions.
Cricket Associations work with schools to create links for school children to join clubs. Contact you local cricket association for further details.
