This season the Women's National Cricket League will include the Tasmanian Roar, its first appearance at this level after playing in last season's inaugural WNCL Twenty20 competition. They will play alongside the ACT (Meteors), NSW (Breakers), Queensland (Fire), SA (Scorpions), Victoria (Spirit) and WA (Fury). The competition will start in late October/early November and end in late January around other representative commitments and include six rounds for each team involving a weekend of 1 x one day matches (50 overs) (a reduction in past season's from 2 x one day matches). The top two teams at the end of the home and away rounds plays off in the final for the title. NSW has won the title 12 times, with Victoria the only other team to win the title (twice).
The WNCL Twenty20 competition will also be played in conjunction with the one day competition. Each round will consist of a Twenty20 double header. Some matches also played as double-header clashes with the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash. As per the WNCL competition, the top two teams will play off in the final.
